Michael Block - January 2009 Toronto Canada

Dear Nell,
It's now been over four months since Stefanie and I spent a few days with you on our honeymoon in August. I appologise for the late note.
We both had such a fantastic time. The chateau is beautiful, the meals delicious and the wine spectacular. We miss it very much. It truley was like staying with friends and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I'm also curious about the logistics of ordering wine to Canada.
All our best

Mary - August 2008 London England

Just returned from a wonderful week at Chateau Soussac and can recommend for a number of reasons. Wonderful location, near to lots of vineyards, cultural things to see and do and St Emilion is only a half hour drive.
The chateau is fab, Jo and Nell could not make you feel more welcome. Their food is divine it felt really special sitting on their terrace having a 5 course - great! - meal in the evening, they checked what you did not like and then produced superlative food washed down by their own wine. Plenty of space in the garen and a lovely pool which we often had to ourselves.
We will certainly recommend to anyonw for a peaceful relaxing few days

Nell and Joe,

Back in Cork after a wonderful stay in the Bordeaux region, especially our four tranquil and very relaxed days at Chateau Soussac.  It was so peaceful in the evenings to sit on the terrace and have a refreshing swim before sitting down to enjoy a delicious dinner. We will certainly recommend Chateau Soussac to our friends and hope to return ourselves at some stage.

I trust your key safely returned to you!

Wishing you both every success.

We stayed in Chateau Soussac for three nights at the end of our honeymoon and it provided just the rest and relaxation that we had hoped for. Joe and Nell, the owners, could not have been more accommodating.

The dinner was excellent every evening (five courses) thanks to Nell’s expertise and Joe’s Chateau de Soussac wine went down very well with it. He included a tour of his vineyard and winery in the package. The gardens were beautiful and the pool was very clean and well kept.

The Chateau is a work in progress, Joe and Nell only having arrived two years ago, but the original old world feel added to it’s charm. It has to be remembered that it is a chambres de hotes, not a hotel, and this is reflected in the price.

One thing I like to see in a chambres de hotes , however, in the absence of the room service you might expect in a hotel, is tea and coffee making facilities but this is a minor detail.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return to Chateau Soussac again.

Please send my best to Joe and to the gorgeous doggies and thanks for getting in touch. As I've said before, Chateau Soussac was ludicrously easy to recommend; you are magical hosts in a magical place and you deserve to be out the door with guests.
A bientot,

Kathy - May 2008  Houston Texas

We have just returned from a two week trip throgh London and France, and while we enjoyed every bit of it, our time at Soussac was our favorite! The chateau is lovely and the grounds were beautiful! Each morning we were able to enjoy our breakfast outside looking at the back gardens, listening to the birds, and watching for the occassional rabbit to run across the yard. The owners, Nell and Joe, an Irish couple, were helpful and gracious and contributed to a wonderful stay. They are also impressive cooks- we enjoyed two dinners while at the chateau, and the meals were outstanding! The room was spacious and looked over Magnolia trees, flowering plants, and a large pond. The beds were VERY comfortable with a plush duvet and fine linens. We were given a tour of the vineyards and learned a lot of interesting information about the entire winemaking process that was more thorough than the other tours we had been on. Afterwards, we were able to enjoy a tasting of each of their wines.
Located East of Bordeaux and out in the French countryside, it's an easy drive to St. Emillion. I also recommend a canoe ride and picnic down the Dordogne river, which is only a short bit away.
Overall, it was a fabulous stay and we hope to go back!

Dear Nell and Joe,

Many many thanks for your kind hospitality on Friday evening.  Your

chateau, the room, the dinner and the breakfast were all excellent.

Who knows when we will be up in that area again, but if we do, we will

contact you for accommodation.

Kind regards,

Kay

P.S.  I really loved the choice of fabrics in the bedroom we had.

Gem of a Chateaux!!!

This wonderful Chatueax in the middle of its own vineyard was everything we were looking for AND MORE. The rooms were great, the building beautiful, the location perfect for exploring wine country. The owners, an Irish couple, were the picture of perfect hospitality. The dinners they serve seem pricey at 30 Euros a head, but they were worth every cent, and far better than similar dinners at other chateaus...We'd only booked dinner the first night, but decided to eat there again. 5 full-on courses in the formal dining room with candle light. The drinks are extra, but they have a good menu of moderately priced local wines.

We got a tour of the vineyard, and an ample "tasting" of their 3 wines--which were wonderful. I can't say enought good things about this place. We will most certainly be back--soon I hope

Dear Nell,
Time has truly flown since we had such a wonderful weekend with you.  We didn't feel like we were in a hotel at all but more like staying with friends who truly cared that we had everything we could possibly want.
We really did appreciate the tour of the vineyard and found it absolutely fascinating.
We await details from DHL in due course(for delivery of the Chateau Soussac Wine).
With very many thanks again for a super time
Regards to you both
